A Poem for my Wife

Within you is a fire,
to which nothing can compare.
Within you is a desire,
I can tell because you care.

I miss your sweet caress,
so glowing tender and sweet.
Its absense I express,
Leaves me incomplete.

I sense the feelings inside you,
though masked they may be now.
I sense what might be true,
Its essense you must allow.

So don't wonder what could be,
An emotion so alluring.
If my love you can't quite see,
Its presence is enduring.

Love,
Donald

A poem for Miranda

Was it as postulate twins we got our start?
Or on email when you revealed your heart?

I remember it was on the street, when you first grabbed my hand,
And as a result, you may have got more than you had planned.

Our adventures from Busch Gardens to the Pacific,
Of course all of them were quite terrific.

But it seems our journey together has ended,
Yet my heart has not thouroughly mended.

As it seems I may lose you to another,
Know the glow in my heart will not smother.

Because while bodies eventually dwindle,
My love for you I'll always kindle.

Love,
Donald

A X-mas poem for some friends

I'm wishing you a Merry X-mas today,
Because you're all such good designers,
And don't worry, I've never heard people say,
You're not just a bunch of winers.

I hope you have all been good this year,
And learned its not better to receive than give,
And you haven't been spiking your friend's beer,
With some kind of laxative.

So when Santa pulls up in his sleigh,
And sees your X-mas socks,
I don't want to hear him say,
"Just fill them up with rocks!"

You might think this rhyme is lame,
But it really took me hours,
So please don't call me names,
Especially "Austin Powers".

Don't worry I'll let you go home,
I'll soon be lettin' you loose,
because the only one who likes my poem,
I think is probably Bruce.

A X-mas poem for Holly and her cats

Decorating the tree makes you jolly,
To great joy you are not immune,
So play with the cats and hang up the holly,
Ignoring the tinsel they have strewn.

A poem for my Dad and Marsha

She's from the East, he's from the West,
It really doesn't matter,
Because their arrangement is the best,
And neither could be gladder.

He makes welders and she likes to cook,
They are a very good pairing,
And you can tell from just a look,
Each one is extremely caring.

So if in Key West they finally settle,
or across the country they continue to hop,
No one would dare even meddle,
Because their love you would be unable to stop.

Poem for a construction customer

Home improvement is a great pain,
All the dust can make you insane,
But don't let it bring on great sorrow,
Because shortly, maybe even tomorrow,
You'll have the cosiest house on the lane.

A poem for a friend who likes lady bugs and dragon flies

Hanging from their toes I see ladybugs,
While butterflies float from above,
Dragon flies give reasons for many hugs,
All spirits entwined in great love.

A poem for my friend "Holly"

A Holly bush is really very gorgeous,
Its foliage deep green and quite slick,
The berries are pretty but not delicious,
Beware of the leaves, they might prick.

A Poem for Miss Spring

Winter is cold and that is the norm,
The birds are not here to sing,
So we'll bundle in blankets to keep  warm,
And wait for the coming Spring.

A Poem for my friend "Shelly"

An ocean storm blows a strong breeze,
The surf beats the shores sandy belly,
The waves bring the dunes to their knees,
While the beaches are left rather Shelly.

Christmas wish for Christie, Shelly and Holly

(I wrote this for 3 friends who work in a tile store)

I want to wish you a Merry X-mas,
because this is a joyous season,
you've all been good as angels,
which I think is a very good reason.

I want to wish you a Merry X-mas,
I hope people buy lots of tile,
because the more business you make,
the more you are going to smile.

I want to wish you a Merry X-mas,
and I want you all feeling jolly,
because you're all wonderful ladies,
Christie, Shelly and Holly.

Poem for a friend

A muse can inspire a painting,
And a great love... a sonnet, it's true,
However a lie begets nothing,
Which is what I have done to you.

So accept my words and their meaning,
As a wish to right things askew,
and let us repair a great parting,
The friendship, between me, and you.

Directions for Santa

(I wrote this poem for my sister, Bonnie, and her husband, Doug, who live on Lake Tapps in Washington state.)

I gave Santa directions to your place,
I told him to fly to Lake Tapps,
He said he couldn't see it from space,
It just wasn't on any of his maps!

I tried to make it extremely clear,
because his finding you was totally my wish,
until I saw him packing scuba gear,
Then I shouted, "Bonnie and Doug, they're people not fish!"

California Winter

Here in California,
it's pretty sunny,
but believe me if it were snowing,
now that would be funny!

But don't think living here is easy,
as you scrape the ice from your windshield,
yesterday after laying in the sun,
I think my nose may have peeled!
No shoveling of snow,
or salting of the walk,
but we still have our hazards,
imagine if we ran out of sun block!

You think putting chains on your car,
leaves you no time for fun,
have you ever sat on a car seat,
that's been baking in the sun!

So if all that cold and snow,
is giving you the blues,
just think about us down here,
sometimes we even get beach sand in our shoes!
