Happy Not-Valentine’s Day
Today is not Valentine’s Day,
of that I am aware.
But what of all the unloved?
Does no one really care?
To be without a partner,
and of us there are plenty,
Don’t we deserve a day,
or two or even twenty?
So to contemplate our plight,
I declare this to be that day.
You may ask, “How can this be so?”
It is -- because I say.
So cherish your unsought solitude,
'til it burns in you like a fire.
For love could be quite near,
and you’ll reap what you desire..
